Master the Heart of Bluegrass and Country Music

Unlock the signature sound of the resonator guitar with our Open G (G-B-D-G-B-D) Scale Chart. This tuning is the lifeblood of the genre, used by legends like Jerry Douglas, Josh Graves, and Mike Auldridge. Whether you are playing a square-neck Dobro or a round-neck resonator with a slide, this chart provides the exact roadmap you need to navigate the fretboard and find those iconic "sweet spots."

An Interactive, High-Performance Practice Tool

Stop struggling with static charts. Our guide is designed to be as versatile as your playing. Featuring a premium 5 mil lamination, the surface is fully dry erase compatible.

  • The Front Side: Features a full fretboard diagram (Nut to 12th fret) and three essential movable scale patterns: Major, Minor, and Blues.

  • The Back Side: Includes the fretboard diagram again for quick reference, plus three more powerful movable scales: Major Pentatonic, Minor Pentatonic, and Mixolydian.

  • Map Your Neck: Use the fretboard map to find your root note of the key you want to play in. Take any of the six scale patterns and "overlay" it onto that fret. Every note in that scale is now mapped out for you across all six strings. Use a dry erase marker to mark the fret below the scale and to mark the fingerboard inlays for reference.

  • Visualize the Theory: Circle root notes or highlight target intervals to master complex solos and improvisations directly on the page.

Built for the Studio, the Classroom, and the Road

Designed by A New Song Music, this chart is built to withstand years of heavy use. It is double-sided, tear-resistant, and water-resistant. The convenient 8.5" x 11" format is specifically sized to slide into the front cover of a music binder or be hole-punched for your practice notebook, keeping your essential theory exactly where you need it.

  • OPEN G (G-B-D-G-B-D) SPECIFIC: Precision-mapped for the most popular tuning in Bluegrass, Country, and Folk resonator styles.

  • SIX ESSENTIAL SCALE PATTERNS: Includes high-contrast diagrams for Major, Minor, and Blues scales on the front, plus Major Pentatonic, Minor Pentatonic, and Mixolydian patterns on the back.

  • DRY ERASE COMPATIBLE: Heavy-duty 5 mil lamination allows you to label keys and fret positions with any dry erase marker—simply wipe clean to reset for your next song.

  • STUDIO-GRADE DURABILITY: Professional-grade lamination makes this chart water-resistant and tear-resistant, ensuring it survives long practice sessions and travels.

  • NOTEBOOK & BINDER READY: The 8.5" x 11" size is perfect for placing in the clear cover of a music binder or inserting into your practice folder.

  • PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA: Designed and printed in the United States by A New Song Music for guaranteed quality and accuracy.

Understand the "Why" Behind the "Where"

We don't just show you where to put your bar; we show you why it works. Each scale highlights the Root (R) and the degrees of the scale (2-7). With included interval formulas (e.g., R-2-3-5-6-7) and step distances (W for Whole, H for Half), you’ll develop a deep understanding of music theory that translates directly to your playing.

How to Use the Dry Erase Feature (Do not use a permeant marker)

  1. Pick your key: Write it at the top of the scale diagram.

  2. Find the Root: Use the fretboard diagram at the top to find your ROOT note (the key you want to play in)

  3. Overlay the Scale: "Overlay" your desired scale over the root note.

  4. Number your frets: Label the frets accordingly below the scale that you're working with. You may find it helpful to mark the fingerboard markers as well.

  5. Wipe and reset: Use a paper towel to clear the chart when you're ready to switch songs.
